Rubén Acosta Tejeda Killed in Hit‑and‑Run Crash, Driver Sought in Mexico

Rubén Acosta Tejeda, 31, died early Sunday after his vehicle was struck by a Nissan Sentra that allegedly ran a red light at the intersection of Avenida De la Raza and Plutarco Elías Calles. The collision occurred while he was traveling alone from El Paso, Texas. The driver fled the scene; authorities have identified the vehicle as belonging to a woman whose son may have taken it without permission. The Fiscalía General del Estado has announced a search for the suspect.

Friends, family, and co‑workers gathered Tuesday at Funeraria Perches on Avenida López Mateos to mourn Acosta Tejeda, describing him as a dedicated family man and diligent worker at the family‑owned Tortillería Zaragoza. Social‑media posts expressed outrage over the incident and concern that the driver could evade justice.
