Rubén Blades announces new film projects and final tour in 2027

Panamanian singer and actor Rubén Blades has announced several upcoming film projects and plans for his final musical tour. Speaking at the Billboard Latin Music Week in Miami, the 78-year-old artist confirmed he will begin filming a movie in New York this December alongside actress Zoe Saldaña.

Following that project, Blades intends to star in ‘Armadillo Salvaje’ with Antonio Banderas and Danny Trejo, marking his third collaboration with the Spanish actor. He also recently completed filming for ‘Porto Rico’, a Caribbean western-drama directed by Residente that features Viggo Mortensen and Edward Norton.

Regarding his musical career, Blades stated that he expects to embark on his final tour in 2027. He is also set to receive the Billboard Icon Award in Miami in recognition of his five-decade career.
