PAN says federal government prepping Rubén Rocha Moya's return to Sinaloa governorship

Jorge Romero Herrera, the national president of Mexico’s Partido Acción Nacional (PAN), announced that the federal government is preparing the political, legal and media conditions for Rubén Rocha Moya to resume the governorship of Sinaloa. He argued that the state has been infiltrated by organized crime and that Rocha’s recent public re‑appearance, after more than two months of absence, was not the result of a judicial resolution or cleared accusations.

Romero Herrera emphasized that Rocha never resigned nor was permanently removed, and that a temporary licence allows him to legally reclaim the office unless a court decision blocks it. The PAN called for the Fiscalía General de la República to disclose the status of investigations—including a U.S. indictment, alleged links to criminal groups during the 2021 election, the murder of Héctor Melesio Cuén and possible illicit funds tied to Rocha’s family—and for the Sinaloa Congress to outline the procedure for any reinstatement. The party reiterated its opposition to using state institutions to shield alleged wrongdoing.
