Rubén Rocha Moya resumes Sinaloa governorship amid political controversy
Rubén Rocha Moya has resumed his position as the Governor of Sinaloa after a period of more than three months away from office. His return has triggered significant political friction in Mexico.
The Morena party leadership has distanced itself from the decision, stating that the reincorporation was a personal determination by Rocha Moya and that the party was not consulted beforehand. Morena legislators have formally requested that the governor reconsider his return and instead request a new leave of absence to allow the Federal Attorney General's Office (FGR) to conduct its investigations without interference.
Opposition leaders from the PAN and PRI have strongly condemned the move. They characterized the return as a challenge to the United States government, which has previously leveled accusations linking Rocha Moya to organized crime. PAN leader Jorge Romero stated that his party does not recognize the legitimacy of the administration, while PRI leader Alejandro Moreno criticized the move as an act of impunity that ignores serious allegations regarding ties to criminal organizations.
