Rubén Viñuales, the mayor of Tarragona, has denied allegations linking him to a drug request made during a 2017 phone call. The controversy arose during a trial at the Audiència de Tarragona involving a drug trafficking organization.

According to investigative reports from Porta Enrere, Mossos d'Esquadra intercepted a call in June 2017 from a number identified as Viñuales's. Police investigators interpreted the conversation as a request for narcotics. In the transcript, the caller mentions contacting the individual for “temes lúdics i festius” (leisure and festive matters) related to an upcoming wedding and flight.

Viñuales, a criminal defense lawyer, has issued a statement categorically denying that he requested drugs. He maintains that the conversation took place within the context of a professional relationship he held with the individual in his capacity as a lawyer. He has announced legal action against the media outlet and the author of the information.
