Ruby Rose discusses severe Batwoman set injury and spinal surgery
Australian actress Ruby Rose has spoken out about the severe physical and professional impact of a major injury sustained during the filming of the first season of Batwoman. Rose, known for her roles in Orange Is the New Black and various action films, revealed that she suffered two neck fractures during a stunt sequence.
The injury resulted in two herniated discs near her spinal cord, leading doctors to recommend emergency surgery to prevent permanent paralysis. Rose noted that she initially believed she had only bruised a rib and continued working for several hours before an MRI revealed the true extent of the damage.
Following the surgery, which involved the insertion of two artificial discs, Rose returned to work only 10 days later. She expressed that this rapid return to a physically demanding television production complicated her long-term recovery process, stating that the experience effectively cost her four years of her life.
