Ruch Chorzów defeats Lechia Gdańsk with 97th-minute goal

Ruch Chorzów secured its first victory of the 2026/27 season with a dramatic 1-0 win against Lechia Gdańsk. The decisive moment occurred in the 97th minute of stoppage time when Max Pawłowski scored with a header following a corner kick delivered by Szymon Szymański.

Despite the loss, Lechia Gdańsk goalkeeper Szymon Weirauch earned praise for a standout performance that kept his team in the match. Lechia controlled much of the possession, maintaining 61% compared to Ruch's 39%, but struggled with clinical finishing, recording zero shots on target in the first half.

Lechia had several opportunities to take the lead, including a shot by debutant Artur Szach and a strike by Jakub Adkonis that hit the crossbar in the 84th minute. Ruch Chorzów proved more effective in creating decisive chances despite having less of the ball.
