Indonesia names Rudi Margono acting Jampidsus following Febrie Adriansyah's resignation

Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes Febrie Adriansyah resigned on 11 July 2026 after being named a suspect in three corruption and money‑laundering cases involving PLN, the state‑owned pension fund Asabri/JiwaSra and a debt‑settlement dispute. Police have seized assets worth roughly Rp 531 billion, including 74 kg of gold and large cash holdings. The Attorney General’s Office confirmed Febrie remains in Indonesia under investigation and refuted rumours that he left for Umrah.

The Attorney General’s Commission (Komjak) urged the appointment of a permanent Jampidsus, noting a shortlist of about ten candidates. Rudi Margono, already Deputy Attorney General for Supervision, was appointed as acting (Plt) Jampidsus on 11 July to ensure continuity of special‑crime investigations. Kejaksaan Agung said the transition will not affect ongoing cases and that ethical proceedings against Febrie will follow standard procedures. Margono pledged cooperation with the police’s Specialized Crimes Corps and emphasized professional, independent handling of the matters.

Former Coordinating Minister Mahfud MD outlined possible scenarios for Febrie’s legal outcome and called for the harshest penalties for corruption by law‑enforcement officials, including the death penalty where applicable.
