Indonesia appoints Rudi Margono as Acting Special Crime Prosecutor amid wealth disparity with predecessor

Febrie Adriansyah resigned as Junior Special Crime Prosecutor (Jampidsus) after being named a suspect in three major corruption cases involving PT Asabri, PT Krakatau Steel and a coal‑supply scandal that caused widespread power outages in Sumatra. Ten hours after the resignation, Rudi Margono, formerly Junior Deputy Attorney General for Supervision, was appointed as Acting Jampidsus.

According to the 2025 asset declarations submitted to the Corruption Eradication Commission, Adriansyah reported total assets of roughly Rp 18.26 billion, more than double Margono’s reported Rp 7.30 billion – about 39.9 % of Adriansyah’s wealth. Adriansyah’s portfolio is dominated by property (81.33 % of his assets), with the remainder in vehicles, cash and minor holdings. Margono’s assets are similarly conservative but on a smaller scale.
