Rudnik uglja Pljevlja completes Ćehotina riverbed relocation

Rudnik uglja Pljevlja (RUP) has officially completed the relocation of the Ćehotina riverbed, a major hydrological and infrastructural project for Montenegro's energy system. The project has received a water permit, confirming that all works were executed according to technical standards and project documentation.

General Director Nemanja Laković stated that the one-year project ensures continued coal exploitation and a secure supply for the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant (TE Pljevlja). He noted that the RUP and TE Pljevlja system contributed nearly 65 percent of the total electricity production for EPCG over the last three months, generating over 51 million euros in electricity.

The technical scope included mining 120,000 cubic meters of limestone near the Durutovići dam, constructing 3,200 meters of new riverbed, performing over 500,000 cubic meters of excavation, and installing more than 15,000 cubic meters of concrete. The RUP Construction Group independently managed earthworks valued at approximately 4 million euros.
