Rudolf-Wissell-Brücke in Berlin faces lane closures due to damage

The Rudolf-Wissell-Brücke on the A100 in Berlin is facing traffic restrictions due to structural damage. An inspection revealed a defective tension link that requires replacement. While the Autobahn GmbH has stated that a full demolition of the bridge is not necessary because its construction differs from other decaying bridges, the structure cannot be fully loaded until repairs are completed.

As a result, the outer lanes are currently closed, and the right lane is expected to be impassable for approximately two weeks. The bridge, which is the longest road bridge in Berlin, carries approximately 180,000 vehicles daily. To address long-term infrastructure needs, the Autobahn GmbH plans to replace it with a new structure consisting of two separate bridges as part of a broader renovation program for the A100.
