Rudolstadt celebrates 1250 years of history with festival week

The city of Rudolstadt is hosting a festival week from September 6 to 13, 2026, to celebrate two major milestones: the 1250th anniversary of the city's first mention and 700 years of city rights.

The program includes religious services, theater performances, music, literature, and exhibitions. Key events include the opening of the new season at the Schiller-Theater, a public festive act, and a 'Culture Marathon' on September 12, which features various historical and cultural stations across the city.

As part of the celebrations, a discussion event will be held at Schloss Heidecksburg on September 10. Experts Sabrina Lüderitz and Klaus-Peter Wittwar will discuss the architectural and cultural history of the castle and its relationship to the development of Rudolstadt.
