Rudolstadt delegation visits Letterkenny to celebrate town twinning
A 55-member delegation from the German town of Rudolstadt has arrived in Letterkenny, Ireland, to celebrate the growing ties between the two partner towns. The visit marks a continuation of a twinning agreement officially established in 2018.
During the visit, the delegation participated in several cultural activities, including a reception featuring musical performances and a tour of the An Grianán Theatre. The group also visited the Ulster American Folk Park to learn about the history of emigration to North America and stopped at the Grianán of Aileach historical site.
The partnership holds deep personal significance for both communities. Former Letterkenny Mayor Ian McGarvey, who helped establish the link, is honored in Rudolstadt with a dedicated grapevine in the town center. He was succeeded in welcoming the delegation by his nephew, Cllr Pauric McGarvey, the current Mayor of Letterkenny-Milford Municipal District.
