Rudraprayag authorities issue alert as rivers approach warning levels

Continuous rainfall in Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand, has caused the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers to swell toward their warning levels. In response, the district administration has issued an alert for residents in vulnerable areas, particularly those living along riverbanks, advising them to avoid streams and water channels.

Authorities are maintaining a high state of alert and are closely monitoring sensitive high-altitude glacial lakes, including those near Kedarnath and Madhyamaheshwar. District Magistrate Vishal Mishra noted that since the 2013 disaster, state and central governments have prioritized disaster preparedness in the region. The administration utilizes specialized equipment to monitor for emergencies such as earthquakes, heavy snowfall, glacier bursts, and floods, ensuring that information from high Himalayan areas is communicated immediately to district headquarters.
