Rudraprayag increases Himalayan monitoring amid climate concerns

Rudraprayag District Magistrate Vishal Mishra has announced heightened safety protocols and increased monitoring across fragile Himalayan zones due to growing climate concerns. The administration is maintaining a continuous vigil over sensitive areas, specifically focusing on weather changes and glacier movement in the Kedarnath region.

This increased surveillance follows recent climatic disasters in neighboring Nepal. Officials noted that the Kedarnath region remains highly sensitive, recalling the massive destruction caused by the 2013 disaster. To ensure the safety of devotees during the pilgrimage season, the District Disaster Control Room is actively monitoring vulnerable spots, and specialized disaster management equipment has been installed at the shrine to facilitate immediate emergency responses.
