Rufisque suspends Navétanes football matches due to violence

The Prefect of Rufisque, Magatte Diouck, has suspended all Navétanes football matches in the city until further notice. The decision follows a series of violent incidents involving rival supporters during recent matches.

According to an official communiqué, the suspension is necessary to preserve public order and ensure the safety of people and property. The clashes resulted in physical confrontations and damage to both public and private goods.

The administrative authority emphasized that the Navétanes movement should serve as a space for social cohesion and fair play rather than a pretext for violence. Officials have called upon the leaders of the various Sports and Cultural Associations (ASC), players, and local youth to exercise responsibility and restraint to restore a calm environment.
