Rugby Australia secures multi-year Bledisloe Cup deals
Rugby Australia has reached a multi-year agreement with the Victorian government to host Bledisloe Cup matches at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The deal secures a Rugby Championship match in 2027 and an additional Bledisloe Cup Test in 2029.
This announcement follows the scheduling of an Anzac Day Bledisloe Cup Test at Suncorp Stadium for next April, marking the first three-match series between the Wallabies and the All Blacks since 2021. The new agreements in Melbourne and Brisbane, which includes rights for the 2029 and 2031 Anzac Day Tests, have fueled speculation regarding the potential permanent return of a three-game series format.
While officials have not confirmed a permanent shift back to three Tests, the expanded schedule comes as Australia prepares for the upcoming Rugby World Cup. The Wallabies have not held the Bledisloe Cup since 2002 and have struggled since the series transitioned to a two-game format in 2022.
