Rugby Club Zottegem launches school project for primary students

Rugby Club Zottegem has launched a new school project aimed at introducing the sport to children in a low-threshold manner. All primary schools in Zottegem can apply for a free rugby ball and a ready-to-use lesson package designed specifically for physical education classes.

Club chairman Sven Corthals stated that the initiative aims to inspire students and lower the barrier to entry by utilizing the familiar school environment. The lesson packages are designed so that teachers can implement them immediately without needing to develop a full rugby curriculum.

In addition to the materials, schools can request introductory lessons where experienced trainers visit the school or host students at the club’s grounds near the Bevegemse Vijvers. The club is also introducing ‘RugbyMove’, a movement program for children aged 3 to 5, as part of its efforts to grow its youth membership.
