Rugby initiatives support youth development in Fiji

Community initiatives in Australia and Fiji are supporting the development of young rugby players through equipment donations and life-skills training.

Maisy Grant, licensee of the River Royal Inn in Morpeth, is leading a second-hand rugby gear drive to benefit children in her native Fiji. The initiative has received significant support from the Morpeth and Maitland communities, including donations from the Morpeth Bulls and local schools. The goal is to provide essential equipment, such as boots and balls, to help young athletes pursue sporting opportunities.

In a separate developmental effort, the Next Gen Drua Camp, in partnership with ANZ and the Fijian Drua Foundation, is providing financial literacy training to promising young Fijian rugby talent. Through the MoneyMinded programme, athletes are learning goal setting, planning, and positive financial habits to prepare them for life beyond their professional sporting careers.
