Italian professor Ruggero D'Angerio found dead in Istanbul home

Italian professor Ruggero D'Angerio was found dead in his home in the Beyoğlu district of Istanbul on Wednesday, August 5. D'Angerio, who had taught at the Galileo Galilei Italian High School and the Private Italian High School (IMI) for many years, was discovered by a real estate agent, Ethem İ., who was attempting to show the apartment to potential tenants.

Upon entering the residence with a spare key, the agent found D'Angerio unresponsive and partially undressed on his bed. Emergency services confirmed his death at the scene. Initial police investigations found no visible signs of physical assault, cutting, or piercing wounds on the body.

Prosecutors have launched a suspicious death investigation. D'Angerio's body has been transferred to the Forensic Medicine Institute morgue to determine the exact cause of death. According to the real estate agent, D'Angerio had previously undergone cancer treatment in Italy for approximately two years but had reportedly overcome the illness.
