Ruhan Nel named captain of DHL Stormers for 2026-27 season

The DHL Stormers have officially launched their 2026-27 season campaign, confirming Ruhan Nel as the club captain. Nel, a 35-year-old centre, takes over the leadership role following the departure of Salmaan Moerat to the French club La Rochelle.

During the season launch at DHL Stadium, the club also unveiled its new adidas home and away kits under the theme ‘Roots run deep’. The announcement comes as the team prepares for the upcoming Vodacom United Rugby Championship (URC) season, which begins in late September with a match against Connacht.

Nel emphasized the need for an evolving game plan to remain competitive, noting the importance of integrating new signings such as Siya Kolisi and Cheslin Kolbe. The Stormers aim to build on recent successes, including high viewership and attendance figures, as they seek to bring the URC trophy back to Cape Town.
