Ruhr region industry events highlight networking and infrastructure needs

Regional industry events in the Ruhr area have highlighted critical operational challenges for local businesses. At the Schraubtec trade fair in Bochum, professionals gathered to discuss advancements in fastening technology, tools, and procurement, emphasizing the importance of networking within the specialized sector.

Separately, the Ruhr Forum Handwerk in Mülheim an der Ruhr addressed the detrimental impact of deteriorating transportation infrastructure on the regional craft sector. Representatives from the Handwerk Region Ruhr association, including the Düsseldorf, Münster, and Dortmund Chambers of Skilled Crafts, warned that traffic congestion and decaying bridges significantly hinder competitiveness. Andreas Ehlert, President of the Düsseldorf Chamber of Skilled Crafts, noted that for the region's 46,000 craft businesses, mobility is a vital link in the production chain, and infrastructure delays result in substantial lost working hours.
