Ruhrorter Hafenfest features fireworks display in Duisburg

The 31st Ruhrorter Hafenfest in Duisburg featured a major fireworks display launched from the Friedrich-Ebert-Brücke. Despite recent rainy weather, the change in conditions allowed the pyrotechnic show to proceed as planned, featuring new effects and a 30-minute spectacle accompanied by popular music.

While the fireworks were well-received by spectators, the festival faced some challenges. Low water levels on the Rhine forced the cancellation of the traditional ship parade (Schiffskorso). Additionally, while some areas like the Mühlenweide saw large crowds, other locations experienced lower attendance compared to previous years, possibly due to overcast skies.

The four-day event includes live music, various markets, and guided tours. Local opinions on the festival's evolution are mixed, with some residents noting a perceived decrease in scale, while others highlight the increasing variety of rides and attractions.
