Rui Falcão requests investigation into foreign election interference

Brazilian Federal Deputy Rui Falcão has submitted new evidence to the Supreme Federal Court requesting an investigation into potential foreign interference in the 2026 Brazilian elections. The petition focuses on the activities of Argentine national Fernando Andrés Cerimedo and his alleged use of foreign structures to spread disinformation and automate social media accounts.

According to the petition, a digital campaign targeting President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva originated from the Argentine portal La Derecha Diario, which is linked to Cerimedo. This campaign, which reportedly reached approximately 475,000 views, included narratives regarding a supposed “invasion” of Moroccan immigrants in Santa Catarina, attributing the situation to the Lula administration's migration policies.

Additional elements presented include testimony suggesting Cerimedo maintained account automation structures in Bolivia and Buenos Aires. The deputy is calling for authorities to cross-reference seized equipment from Bolivia with ongoing investigations into Cerimedo’s influence on the Brazilian political landscape.
