Ruidera authorities order sacrifice of 28 sheep due to sanitary violations

The SEPRONA unit of the Guardia Civil has intervened at an urban plot in Ruidera, Ciudad Real, following reports of foul odors. Upon inspection, authorities discovered severe sanitary violations involving 28 sheep.

Inspectors found a significant accumulation of manure, three sheep carcasses inside a stable, and at least six skeletons in a separate area. The facility lacked basic hygiene and pest control measures, including cleaning and disinfection protocols. Furthermore, the operation was entirely unregulated, lacking an exploitation code, registration books, veterinary oversight, or an authorized manager for carcass removal.

In coordination with the Livestock Service of the Tomelloso Agricultural Office, the 28 sheep were initially immobilized. Subsequently, the Livestock Service of the Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha ordered the mandatory sacrifice of the entire flock. The findings have been forwarded to the Provincial Delegation of Agriculture, Livestock, and Rural Development of Ciudad Real to determine if disciplinary proceedings will be initiated against the owner.
