Rumen Radev condemns Petrohan-Okolchitsa case suspects

Bulgarian President Rumen Radev has issued a scathing condemnation regarding the ‘Petrohan-Okolchitsa’ case, describing the accused, Kalushev, as a ‘cold-blooded killer of children’ and an ‘outright pedophile.’ Radev questioned how such a group, which he characterized as a ‘sect and pedophilic organization,’ was able to operate for years with financial and political support while functioning with the legitimacy of a state agency.

Addressing the implications for society, Radev expressed alarm over how an NGO could control vast territories, obstruct the movement of Bulgarian citizens, and register large quantities of weapons. He called for a thorough investigation into how institutions allowed such an entity to exist and thrive.

In a related development, Education Minister Prof. Georgi Valchev addressed irregularities at the Kosmos private school, where one of the deceased students was enrolled. The prosecutor's office has initiated pre-trial proceedings regarding the failure to fulfill official duties concerning the student's unrecorded absences. The Ministry of Education has identified significant issues in the school's educational organization and teacher qualifications, noting that the school's license could be revoked if corrective measures are not fully implemented following upcoming inspections.
