Rumen Radev directs Ministry of Interior to ensure fair elections

Prime Minister Rumen Radev has issued directives to the Ministry of Interior (MoI) to ensure the integrity of the upcoming presidential and vice-presidential elections. Speaking at a national leadership meeting, Radev emphasized that the MoI must remain a neutral institution and cannot serve as a tool for any political force.

Key priorities outlined by the Prime Minister include combating vote-buying, controlled voting, and corporate influence. He called for strict coordination between the MoI, the State Agency for National Security (DANS), and the Prosecutor's Office to investigate electoral crimes. Radev stressed that while violations must be uncovered rather than hidden, law enforcement must act without unnecessary showmanship or premature judgment.

Beyond election security, Radev highlighted the government's commitment to dismantling the oligarchical model and fighting corruption, abuse of power, and human trafficking. He also addressed the need for increased state presence in smaller settlements and emphasized the importance of protecting Bulgaria's borders and its standing within the European Union.
