Rumen Radev targets organized crime influence in Bulgarian security services

Bulgarian President Rumen Radev has announced that two parallel processes are underway: a fight against organized crime and an effort to purge the influence of such structures from within the Ministry of Interior and security services.

This statement follows the discovery of a powerful GPS jamming device in a highly secured complex in the Dragalevtsi district of Sofia. The device, which was neutralized by the State Agency for National Security (DANS), the Communications Regulation Commission, and the Sofia Directorate of Internal Affairs, was capable of suppressing GPS signals across the capital, affecting aircraft flying over Sofia Airport and television towers. Authorities noted that while parts of the device were recovered, some components had been removed just before the operation.

The discovery has sparked intense political debate regarding the infiltration of state institutions by oligarchic and criminal networks.
