Rumer Willis reveals Alzheimer's genetic test results

Rumer Willis has undergone genetic testing to assess her risk of developing Alzheimer's disease, a decision prompted by her father Bruce Willis's diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia.

Willis focused her testing on the APOE gene, which includes variants like APOE4 that are known to increase the risk of late-onset Alzheimer's. Following the results, she shared on social media that her testing indicated an average risk for the disease, providing her with some relief.

Medical experts note that while certain genetic variants like APOE4 can influence risk, they are not definitive predictors of the disease. Furthermore, more than 99 percent of Alzheimer's cases are not directly caused by inherited genetic changes, as many factors contribute to the development of dementia.
