Rumer Willis undergoes genetic testing for Alzheimer's risk

Rumer Willis, daughter of actor Bruce Willis, has undergone genetic testing to assess her risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease. The decision was prompted by her father’s diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia (FTD), a progressive condition that affects speech, behavior, personality, and mobility.

Willis underwent an APOE genetic test to identify variants associated with Alzheimer’s risk. She shared that while receiving medical answers can be “scary,” having precise information allows for proactive health management. The test results indicated that her genetic risk for the disease is within an average range and not extremely elevated.

In addition to her father’s condition, Willis noted that her family has a history of other serious illnesses, including breast cancer, which contributed to her decision to pursue comprehensive health screenings.
