Rumia Man Arrested After Nationality‑Based Attack

A 31‑year‑old man in the Polish town of Rumia was arrested after a violent assault motivated by the victim's foreign accent. The suspect threatened the man and tried to strike him with a sharp tool, but the victim defended himself using a bicycle, sustaining no injuries while his bike’s tires were damaged.

Police responded to a call shortly after midnight, reviewed surveillance footage, and captured the attacker the same day. He was charged with violence and threats on the basis of the victim’s national origin, placed in pre‑trial detention for three months, and faces a possible prison term of up to five years. The case is being handled by the Wejherowo District Prosecutor’s Office.
