Rumyana Bachvarova endorses Andrey Gyurov for Bulgarian presidency

Rumyana Bachvarova, former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, has announced her support for Andrey Gyurov’s presidential campaign. While she has chosen not to join the official initiative committee to remain more effective in her outreach, she is actively assisting his campaign.

Bachvarova described Gyurov as a “modern type of person” who differs from traditional political figures due to his professional and educational background in both Bulgaria and abroad. She also endorsed Georgi Kandev as the candidate for Vice President, stating that Kandev’s expertise in the legal order, social processes, and the fight against corruption and crime complements Gyurov’s profile.

Addressing internal party dynamics, Bachvarova noted that differences within GERB are natural as long as they do not lead to serious splits. She also commented on the changing landscape of Bulgarian society, noting that the active participation of new generations is shifting the country’s political profile.
