Runaround Sue targets Ipswich sprint handicap

Trainer Pat Webster is preparing two runners for the Barrier Reef Pools Benchmark 65 Handicap at the Ipswich racecourse. Among the contenders is the seven-year-old mare Runaround Sue, who has a strong record at the track with two wins and two placings from six starts.

Webster noted that the 800-metre sprint distance is a useful tool for horses resuming from a break. Runaround Sue is coming off a narrow defeat at Toowoomba on August 15 and will be racing on a quick back-up ten days later. Apprentice Chloe Lowe will ride the mare, utilizing a two-kilogram claim to bring the weight down to 57.5 kilograms.

Webster’s second runner, Medals, will also compete in the race with a three-kilogram apprentice claim, though the gelding faces a heavier load of 61 kilograms in his first run after a break.
