Running events scheduled for Ioannina and Patmos in Greece
Several major running events are scheduled to take place in Greece. The Ioannina Lake Run is celebrating its 20th anniversary, with registrations closing on August 31. The event, held from September 18 to 20 around Lake Pamvotis, expects over 7,500 participants across various distances, including a 30 km lake loop, 10 km and 5 km races, and specialized routes for children and people with disabilities.
Additionally, the Patmos ChoRun is set for September 13, 2026, on the island of Patmos. The event features a 21 km half marathon, a 5,000 m race, a children's race, and a walking competition. Organized by the Patmos Gymnastikos Syllogos ‘STADION’, the Municipality of Patmos, and the South Aegean Region, the event includes cultural festivities such as a Pasta Party and a Fisherman's Festival. The sports brand Saucony is a partner, offering technical T-shirts to winners and conducting a raffle for running shoes among half-marathon participants.
