Running festivals scheduled for Salzburg and Wörthersee

Austria will host two major running events in late 2026. The Salzburg Trailrunning Festival is scheduled for October 23–25, 2026, featuring various distances including a night run in Hellbrunn, a panorama trail, a fortress trail to Hohensalzburg, and the Gaisberg trail. Options range from short beginner courses to the Trailmarathon, which covers 44.7 kilometers across three days.

On September 27, 2026, the inaugural Wörthersee Marathon will take place, with approximately 8,500 runners participating in a route between Klagenfurt and Velden. The event will necessitate phased road closures between Klagenfurt and Velden from 8:30 AM, with some restrictions lasting until 6:00 PM. Participants can use their race numbers as valid tickets for local ÖBB regional trains between Villach, Velden, Pörtschach, and Klagenfurt.
