Italy hosts regional sports events amid Lake Santa Croce water restrictions

Various sporting and community events are taking place across Italy, including the 42nd Giro del Lago in Comacchio and the 46th edition of the night run in Alleghe. In Falcade, Elisa Bortoli and Nicolas De Lorenzi secured victories in the Giro Podistico di Falcade, while the 3 Ponti Trail in Collagna saw Roberto Boni win the new 21 km distance.

Other regional activities include the 14th Trofeo San Rocco cycling race in Locorotondo, the 38th StraCales in Calvi Risorta, and the 38th Festa Alpina in Valgreghentino, which features a charitable component benefiting a pediatric hospital in Bethlehem. Additionally, the Corsa al Bignè Eco & Urban Trail was introduced in Montecchio.

In response to ongoing wildfire fighting efforts, authorities have implemented strict restrictions at Lago di Santa Croce. Effective August 16, all boating, water sports, and recreational activities are prohibited in the basin between Alpago and Ponte nelle Alpi to ensure Canadair aircraft can perform water scooping operations safely and without interference.
