Runway Seedance 2.5 adds 1080p support via API

Runway has updated its Seedance 2.5 video generation model via API to support 1080p output across text-to-video, image-to-video, and video-to-video workflows. This update, announced on August 15, 2026, significantly increases the available resolution from the previous 480p and 720p limits.

The upgrade introduces a higher cost structure; 1080p output is priced at 68 credits per second, which is approximately 2.27 times the cost of 720p (30 credits per second). While Seedance 2.5 offers enhanced features such as longer clip lengths (up to 30 seconds), multimodal inputs, and expanded reference capacity, it does not yet support 4K resolution. Users requiring 4K must continue to use the older Seedance 2.0 model.

For professional video teams, the transition to Seedance 2.5 represents a shift toward more controlled generation and complex planning. While the newer model allows for more detailed motion control and richer reference use, it requires careful management of prompt discipline and review processes to ensure continuity and quality in longer clips.
