Rupali Chakankar files defamation complaint against NCP members and others

The Pune Cyber Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against several individuals, including Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) social media head Sapna Raut, following a complaint by former NCP state women's president Rupali Chakankar. The complaint alleges that various persons posted offensive, defamatory, and derogatory content on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.

The controversy stems from social media trolling regarding Chakankar’s alleged proximity to Ashok Kharat, a figure involved in a gender harassment case in Nashik. Chakankar claims that the circulation of misleading information and offensive comments has caused her significant mental distress and damaged her social reputation.

In addition to Sapna Raut, the FIR names several others, including Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sushma Andhare, Rupali Patil-Thombare, and Dipali Sayyed. The legal action has highlighted internal friction within the Ajit Pawar faction of the NCP, as Raut is considered a close associate of Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar and MP Parth Pawar.
