Rupali Ganguly credits 'Anupamaa' for career breakthrough

Television actress Rupali Ganguly says the Star Plus drama Anupamaa, which debuted in 2020, transformed her from a long‑time working actor into a recognized star. She explained that the show’s focus on a middle‑class homemaker’s empowerment resonated with audiences of all ages and helped shift industry attitudes toward older women performers. Ganguly praised producers Rajan Shahi and Deepa Shahi of Director’s Kut Productions for taking the risk on a story centred on a woman’s voice, noting that the series also highlighted the importance of housewives. She also reflected on her film‑making family background, mentioning her father, award‑winning director Anil Ganguly.
