Rupert Everett discusses isolated life in Wiltshire after mother's death

Actor Rupert Everett has described his current life in the English countryside as “quite isolated, but not in a bad way.” Following the death of his mother, Sara, in 2025 at age 91, the 67-year-old has continued to reside in Wiltshire with his husband, Henrique.

Everett expressed a profound sense of emptiness following his mother's passing, comparing the unique vibration of a mother’s unconditional affection to the sound of a distant motorboat that suddenly goes silent. He noted that no technology or AI could ever replicate that connection.

Having promised his mother that she would not be placed in a care home or die in a hospital, Everett provided her with palliative care at home. He described the experience of being present for her death as a “privilege,” despite the challenges of caregiving. He remains settled in the village, citing a deep connection to the nature and the location where his parents passed away.
