Rupert Grint on the hardships of newborn parenting during the COVID lockdown

British actor Rupert Grint, best known for playing Ron Weasley, told German Vogue that raising his first daughter, Wednesday, born in May 2020, was especially difficult because the COVID‑19 pandemic imposed strict contact restrictions. He said the household consisted of only the couple and the baby, leading to intense health anxiety, severe sleep deprivation and relationship strain.

Grint added that despite the challenges the period also held moments of joy. He later announced the birth of his second daughter, Goldie, in April 2025. The actor is currently starring as a new father in the horror film “Nightborn,” which mirrors his real‑life experience of navigating parenthood amid a global health crisis.
