Rupert Grint to reprise Ron Weasley role on Broadway

Rupert Grint is set to reprise his role as Ron Weasley in the Broadway production of ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’. The actor will perform at New York’s Lyric Theatre for a limited 17-week engagement, beginning February 2 and running through May 30, 2027.

Grint joins the production following Tom Felton, who portrays the adult Draco Malfoy. Felton is scheduled to remain with the show until January 3, 2027, just before Grint’s tenure begins. Grint expressed excitement about revisiting the character, noting that both he and the character have become fathers since the original film franchise concluded.

While many fans have expressed enthusiasm for the casting, the announcement has also drawn mixed reactions on social media. Some commenters have criticized the decision, with some discussions on social platforms linking the backlash to broader sentiments regarding the original book series' author.
