Rupert Lowe dodges question on King Charles' white Briton status

Restore Britain leader and MP Rupert Lowe declined to confirm whether King Charles III qualifies as a “white Briton” during a live interview on the BBC Today programme. Host Nick Robinson cited a 2025 Centre for Heterodox Social Science report that defines a white Briton as someone whose parents were both born in the United Kingdom, a definition that would exclude the monarch because Prince Philip was born in Greece. Lowe offered vague answers, saying interpretations vary and that most British people would agree with his view, while reiterating the report’s claim that white British people could become a minority by 2063. The exchange sparked criticism and debate over demographic forecasts, immigration and national identity. Lowe, MP for Great Yarmouth and former Reform UK member, leads the hard‑right party Restore Britain.
