Rural economic empowerment dialogue held at UGM

A multi-sectoral dialogue titled ‘From Garden to Policy: Weaving an Ecosystem of Economic Empowerment from Villages’ was held at the Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Auditorium on October 9, 2026. The event aimed to address various obstacles to rural economic empowerment by bringing together academics, government officials, business actors, grassroots communities, and media.

Initiated by Harian Jogja Insights in collaboration with the Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment and the UGM Student Union, the discussion focused on creating integrated ecosystems to support village-based economies. Local community leaders, including representatives from farming groups, attended the session to seek practical solutions for managing diverse rural enterprises, such as culinary businesses and traditional medicinal oils.
