Rural medical teams expand outreach to elderly residents in mountainous regions

Medical institutions in rural China are implementing mobile outreach programs to address healthcare accessibility for elderly populations in mountainous and dispersed regions.

In Laizhou, the Yidao Central Health Center has conducted 22 mobile clinics since August. These sessions provide free services including blood pressure and blood sugar testing, DR imaging, and traditional Chinese medicine such as acupuncture and physical therapy. The initiative specifically targets elderly residents who face mobility challenges and live far from medical facilities.

Similarly, in Chaozhou, the Phoenix Central Health Center is conducting door-to-door inspections and village-based clinics to manage hypertension. Medical teams navigate difficult terrain to provide check-ups, medication management, and health education tailored to local tea-farming schedules and ethnic minority cultures. The program focuses on building health records for high-risk individuals and integrating chronic disease management with local public health initiatives.
