Rural Opera project brings musical performances to Calamonte

Rural Opera AUPEX Calamonte Badajoz opera bufa

The fourth edition of the AUPEX Rural Opera has brought the production ‘Una noche en la ópera’ to Calamonte, Spain. Organized by the Association of Popular Universities of Extremadura (AUPEX) with support from the Badajoz Provincial Council and local municipalities, the event aimed to bring professional lyrical productions to audiences outside of major metropolitan theaters.

The performance, held at the Juan Copete Assembly Hall, featured an adaptation of Ángel Jiménez’s three-act production. The staging was updated for the 2026 season to better utilize the local venue following its initial premiere in Valdivia.
