Rural organizations call for protest in Móra d’Ebre
A coalition of 55 environmental, agricultural, and labor organizations has called for a protest in Móra d’Ebre on November 15. The mobilization aims to oppose the destruction of rural spaces and advocate for territorial rebalancing.
The march will proceed from the capital of Ribera d’Ebre to Móra la Nova, the site of a planned European artificial intelligence gigafactory. Organizers argue that rural regions are facing unprecedented pressure from global growth demands, including energy transition projects, water mismanagement, and the expansion of data centers.
Key demands include the withdrawal of legislation intended to simplify environmental and urban planning procedures, a moratorium on wind and solar installations on natural or rustic soil, and a halt to biogas plants and data center projects until scientific studies assess their impact on water, energy, and the climate.
