Spain expects millions of travelers during All Saints Day holiday

The Spanish Directorate General of Traffic (DGT) anticipates approximately 5.34 million long-distance road trips across Spain during the All Saints Day holiday period. The special operation begins at 15:00 on Friday, October 30. In regions where Monday, November 2, is a public holiday, such as Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, the Canary Islands, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León, Extremadura, and Madrid, traffic monitoring will extend until midnight on November 2.

In Aragon, the DGT expects 480,000 trips and has ordered the suspension of roadworks to improve flow. In Madrid, an estimated 1.1 million long-distance trips are projected. Authorities are also monitoring potential traffic increases toward Andalusia due to the suspension of rail services following a train accident in Urda.

To manage the surge, the DGT will deploy Civil Guard traffic agents, aerial units, drones, and mobile speed cameras. In several regions, including Seville and parts of Ciudad Real, municipal Halloween festivities and local events have been canceled or postponed due to official mourning following the Urda rail tragedy.
