Rural voters report little impact from Trump healthcare policies
A poll conducted by The Associated Press in partnership with KFF reveals a disconnect between the Trump administration’s ‘Make America Healthy Again’ (MAHA) movement and its perceived impact on rural communities. While approximately half of rural voters identify with the MAHA movement, about 80% of rural voters stated that the administration’s healthcare policies have had either a negative effect or no impact on the health of their local areas.
Among those who identify as MAHA supporters, 68% reported seeing little to no benefit from these policies. Despite this, some supporters expressed cautious optimism regarding Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., suggesting his efforts to address issues such as ultra-processed foods, regenerative agriculture, and vaccine guidance represent a move in the right direction, even if the impact remains minimal for now.
