Rural Youth Digital Training Initiatives in Chile and Colombia

In Chile’s Araucanía region, the INDAP regional office met with a group of 15 young rural entrepreneurs from Angol and Renaico. Participants discussed the need for digital literacy, new technologies, business management and online marketing to boost agricultural ventures such as lettuce greenhouse production and strawberry substrate‑ponics. Regional director Ingrid Cid highlighted that "young people are fundamental for generational renewal in agriculture" and outlined joint programs for innovation, training and investment projects.

In Colombia, the national government reported that more than 1,020,181 people have been trained in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and data analytics, surpassing the target set in the National Development Plan. Free courses delivered through Talento Tech, SenaTIC and AvanzaTEC, together with the "CiberPaz" awareness campaign, reached 41 % women. Minister of ICT Carina Murcia said the administration has connected 19,544 rural schools, distributed 156,546 computers and established 3,252 technology labs, bringing digital tools to about 1.5 million students in remote areas.
